DISCO TURKEYS TO PLAY WEDNESDAY HOME GAMES AS ‘CAMEL CITY HUMPS’

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (5/17/24) – Hump Day will have a new twist in Winston-Salem this summer as the Carolina Disco Turkeys will slide into the middle of each week playing their Wednesday home games as the Camel City Humps.

Winston-Salem is a city with a long history and quite a few nicknames, but Camel City has long been one of the most common ones.

The Humps will celebrate Wednesday games in style with new uniforms for the occasions, featuring gray jerseys and navy jerseys with an all caps HUMPS script and a mustard accent color.

Fans at Humps games will even see a new mascot the team will bring out for the occasions.

The camel on the logo is one of the dromedary variety. Locals will notice the camel’s hump also resembles Pilot Mountain, a familiar peak in the Winston-Salem area skyline.

The Disco Turkeys will play as the Humps on Wednesday, May 29, and on Wednesday, July 17.

Until then, fans can check out the Disco Turkeys in their normal colorful uniforms. The team opens its season in one week with a home game on Friday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Wake Forest University’s Couch Ballpark. Single-game tickets are available now.

“We’re excited to introduce another new team identity for our fans and players,” said team president Greg Sullivan. “We introduced our alternate Carolina Yacht Rockers identity a few weeks ago and now as we get ready to start our season soon, we’ve got this one, which should make Wednesday games a lot more interesting.”

Humps merchandise, including 4 t-shirt designs and a hat, can now be purchased at shopdiscoturkeys.com.
