First-Place Disco Turkeys to Host July 4 Fireworks Game at Couch Ballpark
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Carolina Disco Turkeys will celebrate Independence Day with baseball, new food offerings and a big post-game fireworks show at Wake Forest University’s Couch Ballpark on Saturday, July 4.
The Disco Turkeys will take on their Blue Ridge League rival, the Uwharrie Wampus Cats, at 6:30 p.m., with a fireworks display immediately following the game to celebrate the country’s 250th birthday.
Carolina enters the holiday matchup in the middle of an incredible season. The Disco Turkeys are 22-3 overall and sit atop the Blue Ridge League standings at 19-3 in league play. Until this past weekend, the team had also been riding a 16-game winning streak, the longest in Disco Turkeys history.
The July 4 game will feature several special concessions additions at Couch Ballpark, including the debut of the Freedom Frank — a brisket burnt-end sausage topped with peppers and onions — along with a Winston Hot Chicken dish, Dippin’ Dots, lemonade, regular ballpark concessions and several beer and beverage options.
Parking will be free until first pitch. Tickets start at $10 and are available both online and at the gate. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online, where reserved seating and table-top options are also available. The first 500 kids with family can receive free admission with a youth sports jersey.
The July 4 game has become one of the Disco Turkeys’ signature summer events, combining college wood-bat baseball, family entertainment, fireworks and one of Winston-Salem’s most unique Independence Day settings at Couch Ballpark.
“July 4 at Couch Ballpark is exactly the kind of night we want the Disco Turkeys to be known for — great summer baseball, a fun crowd, and a big fireworks show for families across Winston-Salem,” said Disco Turkeys General Manager Marilyn Butterworth. “This year is even more exciting with the team in first place, a rivalry matchup against the Wampus Cats, and the chance to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with our fans after the game.”
The Disco Turkeys play from May through late July each summer and are one of the top college wood-bat teams in the region. The team is known for its colorful mascot Boogie, its national merchandise following and its growing role in the Winston-Salem summer sports calendar.
Tickets may be purchased at discoturkeys.com or at the gate.
