Disco Turkeys move on to postseason tournament in Mocksville

There’s no better way to spend a summer evening in Mocksville than cheering from the stands at Rich Park’s Mando Field—and this July, the stakes are even higher.

The Blue Ridge Invitational, a three-day round-robin collegiate summer baseball tournament, is coming to town! Featuring four exciting teams from across North Carolina and Virginia, the tournament will showcase top-level talent and hometown pride.

Mocksville’s Mando Field will host six games total on Tuesday, July 29, Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 2, with afternoon and evening matchups each day. Admission is just $8 per day, providing fans with access to two games and non-stop action.

The Carolina Disco Turkeys, based out of Winston-Salem’s Wake Forest University’s Couch Ballpark, are headlining the event and will take the field each night at 6:30 p.m. They’ve already built a local fanbase after playing a special home series in Mocksville earlier this summer, and Davie County’s own Braeden Rodgers will be pitching for the team!

Other teams in the tournament include:

  • Catawba Valley Stars (Hickory, NC) – The oldest summer collegiate team in the state
  • Uwharrie Wampus Cats (Albemarle, NC)
  • Marion Hungry Mothers (Southwest Virginia)

“We’re excited to get all of these teams together for a competitive postseason tournament in a good venue that’s central to all the teams,” said Greg Sullivan, Disco Turkeys’ president. “These will be highly contested games, and it’s great to wrap up the season with a tournament so players have an opportunity for bragging rights.”

Come out and support your team, meet other baseball lovers, and enjoy food, fun, and unforgettable summer nights in Mocksville!
